image POSTAL HISTORY: 1843 cover to Tenbury Worcestershire, franked by 1d red-brown struck by black MC, backstamped by Manchester cds for AP 15, 1843, cover bearing Propaganda labels in pink and yellow, lamenting against the Corn Laws, which were tariffs imposed upon the import of foreign corn which saw domestic corn prices rise above wages, also mentioning Lord Stanley (Earl of Derby who later served as Prime Minister) who resigned from Peel's cabinet in opposition to their repeal and was one of the leading protectionists in Parliament, a most interesting and historically important cover. Very fine used example lettered GD, tied to a small envelope by a Colsterworth "215" numeral Addressed to Hednesford nr Rugeley and backstamped by a Colsterworth dispatch cds, Grantham & Stafford transit cds's and a Rugeley arrival cds for JA.26-27.1855. Sent from John Parsons-Cook, the last victim of Dr William Palmer the "Rugeley Poisoner". To William Saunders a Horse trainer, the letter mainly regarding Handicaps and Race Meetings also bears a mention of the "Dr" himself. Offered with a 2001 GSM article on this cover & the "Rugeley poisoner".
