image 1911-15 Monocolours 5/- die proof of Reading's second essay with improved value tablets in black on thin wove paper (52x51mm). Unique & superb! Ex Estate of Samuel Reading (1952), Paul Simonson (1981), Tom Belknap (1987) & Tim Rybak (2008): sold at our auction of 26.4.2008 for $11,500. [While it might appear that this was a proof for the 1916 Bicolour issue, in fact 3d & 5/- die proofs were prepared with the intention of them being additional values in the Monocolour series. Of course, they were not issued thus]
