1901-05 British New Guinea Watermark Vertical Thick Paper 2/6d black & brown SG 16, excellent centring, light 'PORT MORESBY/BRISIH NEW GUINEA' cds, Cat £4000. A superb & beautiful example of this rare stamp. BPA Certificate (1997) as the then SG 14b. Absent from Tim Rybak's collection. More attractive than the Paul Simonson/Tom Belknap/Peter Troy example that sold for $7280.
1901 British New Guinea 2/6d black & chocolate as SG 16 but a forgery by Jean de Sperati, a few short perfs at upper-right, superb part-strike of Sperati's bogus 10-bars 'BNG' cancel with the tell-tale short top bar & characteristically struck away from the vignette. Ex Paul Simonson (1981), Sir Gawaine Baillie and Peter Troy: sold for $2330. BPA Certificate - a "pinky" for a forgery! - (2001). [Roger Lee at page 100 states "I have seen only two examples..." However, Peter Troy accounted for seven examples: his two other examples each sold for $2680]

1930 Aeroplane Overprints Harrison Printing 1/- sepia & deep olive as SG 117 with the Overprint in Deep Carmine, marginal example from the top of the sheet, lightly mounted, minor gum tropicalisation. Unlisted in Gibbons. [Regarding the overprint colour, Rosenblum states at p43 that "At first, a deep carmine was selected, but after only about 10 sheets of the 1/- had been printed therewith, the colour was found to be too dark, and for all subsequent printings the colour was a lighter carmine-red". 1952 Pictorials ½d to £1 complete in separate recessed frames on a single piece of board (265x240mm), a couple of minor bends & light overall aging. This is an official production for display, probably at Port Moresby, but not previously seen by us. [NB: these are not die proofs but perforated singles, as issued]
1962 Native Police 5/-, above-average centring, unmounted. Unissued. [The TPNG post office bulletin of January 1962 stated that a forthcoming issue would feature "a Native Affairs patrol..." It is believed the issue was abandoned in September 1962 and all but three sheets of the stamps were destroyed]
