The multiple franking the 9 Shilling yellow: horizontal pair, fresh colours and large margins all around, the left value in outstanding quality, the right stamp crease smoothed and little repainted, on very decorative letter with two clearly four-bar cancellations and additional single circle postmark "Hamburg PAID 3. AUGUST. 1859. " in red, as well red transit postmark "AACHEN PAID 25 Cts. 4/8" to New York with forwarding mark "VIA liverpool" and red arrival postmark "N. YORK at the parcel 30. PAID 18. August ". This is one of the largest franking rarities from Hamburg, there pure multiple franking of this denomination value nearly unknown are. Provenance: 47. Corinphila auction (1960) and 5.
