image INDEPENDENT ORDER OF ODD FELLOWS: Lettersheets, all posted and addressed to the same recipient, detailing the Balance Sheets for years ending 1902, '03, '05, '06, '07, '09, '12, '16, & '17 for the "Lily of the Valley Lodge", Hope, (Derbyshire) of the IOOF, Manchester Unity Friendly Society. Each lists Trustees, Honorary Members, Lodge and District Officers for the coming year, accounts, etc. By 1912 the accounts include a 'Distress' Fund and 1916 and '17 include a Soldiers Suspense Account and lists of Members' Sick Pay. The organisation was set up to protect and care for the members and their communities at a time when there was no welfare state or National Health Service. image NOVELTY PPCs ON A POSTAL THEME: Small group of pre-1920s three-dimensional cards (8 different, all but one postally used) depicting delivery of the mail, with either postbag, letter-pouch, postbox, mail coach or flap, concealing concertina strip of photographs. One of the cards carries "1d To Pay Liable To Letter Rate" cachet and "466" triangular inspector's mark. Another carries "1d /K.26" postage due handstamp. One (postally used) comic card "Just caught the post" showing man climbing into postbox on flap. One similar additional card is not three-dimensional.
