Isabella Quarter (1893) AU58. The only commemorative quarter struck before the modern era, this coin was supposed to recognize the contribution of women to technological development and economic advancement. They were sold for a premium at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. Though many more were actually struck, the final sales figure was a disappointing 24,000. The unsold coins were melted making the remainder rather scarce today. It's too bad they aren't more popular. (Image)
