Cat No: 1901
1901 AU+ cleaned w/ a few residual hairlines. A white coin that would fit well in an uncirculated set given the prohibitive price of this issue in mint state. The 1901 has a fascinating history. Mint records show nearly 7 million minted, but well over 99% of this issue was destroyed by the Pittman Act melting. Erroneously considered a common date by the few Morgan Dollar collectors of the ensuing decades, the remaining coins we have to choose from today are usually well-worn. So rare uncirculated that many fine cabinets have an XF or AU to represent the 1901-P. (Image)
