VICTORIA: 1911 real photo card 'Wave Breaking Over "Speculant" 10/2/11' showing the steel-hulled sailing ship aground on Cape Patten and being pounded by breakers, unused, couple of very minor blemishes. The "Speculant" rounded Cape Otway on 9.2.1911, but a heavy sea & south-easterly winds drove her ashore at 3am on 10.2; fortunately no passengers were on board and the crew were able to save themselves, walking 6 hours to reach Apollo Bay.
