Großdeutschland sleeve badge of the elite division (armor) of the German army, officer model. Very fine condition. The unit was established as early as 1921 and on June 20, 1939, it received its own uniform insignia, which differed from other units, including sleeve badges. The length of the sleeve badge is about 49 cm, ie full length, not shortened, width 3.5 cm: made of black (so-called soft) wool, mechanically embroidered with the Sütterlin font, with the unit name Großdeutschland in silver-plated braid. The edges of the ribbon have two silver-gray braided stripes along the entire length of the sleeve badge. Original machine-made edging at the ends. The sleeve badge was worn in the right cuff, usually 15 cm from the sleeve opening. There are 4 different variations of the sleeve badge, this so-called Model 3 dates from mid-1944. Many of the officers who moved to other units still wore the cuff in their new platoon as a kind of \u201cbadge of honor\u201d. RARE! (Image)
