1906 'The Story of the Kelly Gang' 24 page booklet with 16 monochrome plates of stills from the movie, written & directed by Charles Tait, starring Elizabeth Tait, John Tait & Nicholas Brierley, the booklet published by J & N Tait [Melbourne, 1906], printed paper wrappers, minor faults but the internal pages are generally very fine,, the covers & many pages bear the autograph-style handstamp of the writer/director Charles Tait, so this is the director's own copy. Extremely rare and important: the only other copy known is in the National Film and Sound Archive in Canberra. ['The Story of the Kelly Gang' is inscribed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register for being the world's first full-length narrative feature film. As of 2020, approximately 17 minutes of the film are known to have survived so this booklet, which contains the stills plus a synopsis of all six scenes, provides an important historical record of the complete production] (Image1)
