G.B - Mail to Portugal. 1851 Entire letter from Manchester to Porto originally franked embossed 10d (cut to shape) + 1/- (1d overpaid for the 1/9 rate), the 1/- stamp having fallen off the letter in transit, therefore handstamped "Returned for / 11d Postage" and "Return'd / for Postage", but endorsed "allow 1/10" when it was realised the letter was originally correctly franked, forwarded on the "Medway". Very unusual.
