1917 (July 20) Cover from Tanga to Bangkok franked I.E.F 3p + ½a and East Africa & Uganda 1c + 3c all cancelled at Tanga, the two East Africa stamps then ringed as invalid, handstamped "T" with a charge of 35c charge indicated, boxed Dar-Es-Salaam censor cachet dated 22 July, backstamped at Bangkok (Oct 19). Civilian post offices were reopened in Tanganyika from 1st June 1917, but G.E.A stamps did not arrive until October; during this four month period East African stamps were authorised for postal use, and these stamps should therefore not have been disallowed. An unusual mixed franking to a scarce destination, minor toning and light fold at left.
