image 1993-96 Kenya Birds definitive issue printed by Helio Courvoisier S.A in Switzerland, original artwork and proofs from the printers archives for the eleven stamps issued in 1993, the 1/50 and 5/- values issued in 1994 and the 6/- value issued in 1996. The unique group comprising unadopted designs by Mrs D. Bochman painted on thick card (5, with wording on a transparent overlay) or by other unknown artists painted on thin card (3, one with central bird cut out); original essays for the fourteen adopted designs, painted on thin card (13) or paper (6/- value), the eleven original designs each mounted with a card surround all with a cachet of Helio Courvoisier on the reverse, the three later essays with wording on a transparent overlay and notes on the required size; and printed coloured proofs of the designs produced by the printers on paper. The original artwork all superbly painted in colour, the mounted essays approx 165x185mm - 220x295mm (therefore all album page size or smaller), the eleven essays adopted for the original 50c - 14/- values all endorsed "Approved" and signed alongside the cachet "GENERAL MANAGER / POSTAL SERVICES / -3 JUL 1992", all the adopted essays endorsed "Utilise" alongside the adopted value, the later 6/- essay with two printed cards from which the original design was copied and a sketch on tracing paper, the printers proofs all endorsed "Approved" and dated on the reverse. Also 1993 F.D.C and mint blocks of the issued stamps. A superb and unique group, all the original artwork exceptionally well executed in colour. (22 Essays + 14 Proofs). Photo on Page 188.
