1840 1d Mulready Lettersheet (Forme 6, Stereo A238). Very fine used example sent from Mayfield to Skippers Hill cancelled solely and contrary to regulations by a black Mayfield/Penny Post handstamp with no other postal markings on reverse. The parent office to Mayfield where a Maltese cross would have been applied is Uckfield, however Skippers Hill lies between the two towns and the cover would have been delivered en route, bypassing the parent office.
