image MATCHING COMIC PICTORIAL COVERS + WRITING PAPER USED WITH 1d REDS EX BRIGHTON; 2/4 Dec. 1876 pair of envs. (both with closed tears along top above address where opened somewhat roughly) franked by 1d Reds tied by fine Brighton Duplexes, the stamp involved in the printed caricatures; flag to a military gent and burden to a juggler. Most unusually each has its original matching pictorial contents; the first depicting a horseman about to jump a gate and the other showing a military gent blowing a trumpet. Rare pair; both sent by the daughter of Sir Thomas Henry Farrer to her cousin in Craigellachie. (2 covers) Cross Reference: SUSSEX (Image)
