1931 (April) Calcutta-Darwin-Calcutta AAMC 177 per GP Fairbairn & K Shenstone with 'Lion' flight cachet in purple, India 1a tied by Calcutta cds of 3APR31, KSmith 2d for surface mail to India tied by 'DARWIN/24AP31/NT' cds & another India 1a cancelled on return to Calcutta 25MAY31, Cat $1200. The AAMC states that 43 covers were carried.
1931 (July 3) Australia to Greenland (!) via Japan per Francis Chichester in his Gypsy Moth AAMC 210, 2d red KGV tied by Sydney Airmail cds, Manila transit & Japanese arrival marks, large "I CERTIFY THIS LETTER NO 89 OF ONLY 148 CARRIED FROM AUSTRALIA TO JAPAN..." cachet and signed by Chichester, faults, Cat $525.
1934 (May 11) Australia to NZ "Goodwill flight" by Charles Ulm in "Faith in Australia" AAMC 379 with 1d green KGV pair & 2d KGV tied by Sydney slogan cancel (1d's not cancelled) plus NZ KGV 1d x2 with one tied by Wellington arrival cds for 12MY34, numbered 224/250 & signed by Ulm, Cat $250.
1978 large souvenir cover for 50th Anniversdary of Trans-Pacific Flight with imperf M/S affixed, adorned with cachets & signatures of at least 30 autographs of pioneer aviators - some of whom must have been ancient! - including "N Brearley", "Harold Litchfield", "Lores Bonney", "Keith Virtue", "Bob Boulton", "Nancy Bird" etc etc, endorsed on the reverse by Ernie Crome "One of Fifty only". A lovely souvenir.
Molonglo Defence Camp: 'MOLONGLO DEFENCE CAMP/29MY18/NSW' very fine large-part strike tying KGV Rough Paper 1d red to small piece. Significantly scarcer than the Concentration Camp cds. PO 7.3.1918; renamed Molonglo Concentration Camp 19.6.1918. Probably the shortest-lived ACT post office!
