He scored more than 1000 runs in his first 11 Tests, including centuries in his first two Tests, against England in 1965-66. On the 1968 Ashes tour he scored 343 runs at an average of 38.11. When he retired in 1981, only three Australians had made more Test runs - Greg Chappell, Don Bradman & Neil Harvey.
