1947, 2d Sheep Farming pictorial definitive essay, artist James Berry's preliminary pencil drawing with annotations, approximately 7.5" x 6.25", accompanied by submitted artwork in black ink and Chinese white on card approximately 10.5" x 8.5", together with stamp-size bromide of the design, typed notation affixed indicating that the design was to highlight the wealth obtained from the land, a beautiful group for an advanced collection of Australia, fine and rare.
While Berry created several designs for the competition for this issue, his submissions were ultimately rejected as he was not an Australian resident. His work can be found on the stamps of a number of countries, including New Zealand, Western Samoa, Cook Islands, Niue, Tonga, and Bermuda. In 1948, Weekly Philatelic Gossip described him as "the greatest postage stamp designer in the world". Christopher Green Ltd. Item#:165 Booth #714 (Image)
