image Alan Cobham. 1926 (Aug 19) Menu for a dinner held by the Australian Aero Club for Alan Cobham and Sgt. A.H Ward, apparently Cobham's personal menu signed on the reverse by Cobham, Ward, and 21 others including the pioneer aviators E.A Mustard, E. Jones, R.W Williams, T.W White and F.W Follett. Also six business cards apparently given to Cobham or Ward after the flight (one from T.W White), and a card wishing the pair good luck on their return flight. Cobham arrived in Darwin on August 5th after a 36 day flight from London, Ward having joined him as mechanic at Basra after his original mechanic, A.B Elliott, was shot dead. They flew from Darwin on Sept 4th, arriving back in London on October 1st. A unique signed menu. Photo on Page 48. (Image1)

L.A Walters, Commander of "Hengist" from London to Karachi, with an enclosed letter from E.V Dolby at the Air Mail Section, T.M.O London, to Capt. Walters, confirming just twelve covers received this c.d.s and were flown from London in a special silk bag (all other mails joining the flight at Paris). 1900-02 Covers and a G.B 1d postcard all posted into civilian offices, 22 bearing G.B stamps (three of these in combination with O.F.S or Transvaal stamps), one cover with Pretoria c.d.s applied away from the G.B 2½d which is cancelled upon arrival in London and a "T" handstamp crossed out, five others with stamps disallowed or underpaid and postage due handstamps applied. Cancellations include "2" numeral of Durban and circular dumb cork cancel with Mooi River c.d.s alongside, also stampless cover endorsed "Passed censor no stamps procurable" transferred from the civil P.O to the F.P.O with 2d charge mark, cover posted at Pretoria with O.F.S stamp disallowed and charged 2d, etc. An interesting group mostly franked contrary to regulations, eleven sent within South Africa, the others to G.B, Europe or St. Helena. (26).
