Selection with Imperf 1/- pale brown FU with almost full margins, perforated 6d purple unused group x4 shades (one with large-part original gum), and mint V/Crown 2/- x3 shades (one Perf 11 with the Watermark Inverted) & 10/-.
1854 "Penny Black" 1d black SG 1 five sound to very fine examples three with virtually full or full margins, one apparently unused but with a red cancel having been cleaned-off; also 1860 Imperf 2d unused & used both with full margins & 6d with three margins; Cat £2350+; plus imperf 2d plate proof in deep blue with margins just clear to good.
1854-55 Lithographs 4d pale blue x2 & 4d blue (unused), all with full margins, and 1/- pale brown, a little cut-into at the top, unused; 1857 Hillman 6d grey-black, margins just clear to good; 1860-64 Imperf 2d orange SG 25, good margins with significant Pre-Printing Paper Fold, unused and 6d x2 (one a bit aged), margins just clear to good; & 1888 New Colours 4d mint; Cat £3000.
1854-55 Lithographs 4d pale blue SG 3 with variety 'RA' of 'AUSTRALIA' Joined, four good to wide margins, very fine '2' 15-bar numeral cancel of Perth, Cat £250. APS Certificate (1985) as Scott 3 "genuine in all respects".
1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 4d deep dull blue SG 3b, margins close to good, 15-bar '8' cancel of Fremantle, Cat £850. A very fine example of this rare shade, from the First Printing.
1860-64 Perkins Bacon Plates 4d Imperforate Plate Proof in black on unwatermarked ungummed paper, horizontal pair with margins just clear to good, small hinge remainder, plus 4d Imperforate Plate Proof in carmine on unwatermarked ungummed paper for the 1861 Perkins Bacon printing, close margins. Only one sheet of each prepared. (2 items)
1861 Perkins Bacon Printings Perf 14 4d vermillion SG 40, fresh colour, perforated into the design at left & base and cut from the sheet at left to preserve the design, unused, Cat £475.
1864-79 De La Rue Printing Crown/CC Watermark 4d Imperforate Plate Proof in carmine (issued colour) on unwatermarked ungummed paper, margins just clear to large. Only one sheet was prepared.

1885-93 De La Rue 1/- sage-green SG 102 block of 18 (6x3), well centred, multiple strikes of a 13-bars cancel, remarkably fine for having been used on a parcel, Cat £99++, for singles. A rare multiple. Prior to 1902, 1/- was the highest denomination.

1888 New Colours Crown/CA Watermark 2d grey SG 103 block of 4, a couple of minor gum bends, large-part original gum, Cat £360+ for singles. A scarce multiple.
1902-11 V/Crown Watermark Mixed Perforations 12½x12x12½x11 1d carmine-rose ACSC W10 (SG 135) horizontal pair, officially repaired with strips of paper affixed to reverse before being perforated the second time, 'NORTHAM/MR 3/03/WESTERN AUSTRALIA - P.O.' duplex cancel, sensibly & neatly re-inforced centrally, unpriced in ACSC (Gibbons Cat £2000+ for two Compound Perfs singles). The ACSC states "The only example of a mixed perf which can be traced is a used stamp in the Bromfield Collection in the WA Museum in Perth. It is punctured WA, and shows the mixed line of perforations at base". Gibbons does not provide a separate listing for Mixed Perfs, although these are much scarcer than regular compound perfs (with the same gauge top & bottom and another gauge left & right). The Single Line Perf 11 rows were applied to correct the Comb Perf 12 row cutting the design at left. Ex Trevor Hiscock & Gary Diffen. Rare: two of only three examples in private hands. The other example, with Mixed Perfs at Base, sold in Gary Diffen's 'Australian Colonies Errors' for £720.
1905-12 Crown/Double-Lined 'A' Watermark Perf 11 9d yellow-orange with Watermark Upright Inverted ACSC W52Daa (SG 157b), cds of '1.AP.1913', Cat $1000 (£1000). Ex Gary Diffen. The ACSC states that this shade & watermark position is from "the final printing of March 1912. This stamp is rare, with approximately twenty used examples recorded [of which at least five are held in institutional collections; no mint examples are recorded] ... Dates range between July 1912 and March 1913".
1905-12 Crown 'A' Watermark Mixed Perforations 12½x11x12½x12½ 1d rose-red ACSC W15 (SG 161) and additionally with Double Perforations Vertically at Left, a few uneven perfs as to be expected, neat 'KALGOORLIE/JU 5/06/WA' partial duplex cancel, Cat $600 (£500) for Compound Perfs. Neither the ACSC nor Gibbons provide a separate listing for Mixed Perfs, although these are much scarcer than regular compound perfs (with the same gauge top & bottom and another gauge left & right). The Single Line Perf 11 row was applied to correct the Single Line Perf 12½ row cutting the design. Ex Gary Diffen. Rare: only three examples recorded, one puctured 'OS'. RPSV Certificate (2018).
PUNCTURED 'WA': 10/- deep violet with the Perfin Sideways Reading Upwards, oval Perth d/s of --DE04. Rare. RPSofV Certificate (2012). Ex Trevor Hiscock: sold at our auction of 8.11.2013 for $302. [Most examples have the perfin reading downwards]

BICYCLE EXPRESS STAMPS: 1894 'COOLGARDIE CYCLE EXPRESS COMPANY' 6d to 5/-, remarkably fine mint with large-part sandy original gum. Almost as fine as the set sold at our auction of 31.8.2019 for $715. [Gum-loss from where they have been hinged is normal. The stamps are NOT thinned] (3)
