Cat No: 3
1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 4d pale blue SG 3 vertical pair, the lower unit with the obvious but unlisted variety Bug in Bill, good even margins, Cat £750+. BPA Certificate (2005). [Sold at our auction of 24.5.2008 for $1045]
1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 4d pale slate-blue SG 3c, margins good to large, light void-grid cancel, Cat £1300. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2009) as "slate-blue". [This is an intermediate shade, significantly greyer than the "blue" printings, but a less rich shade than what is usually accepted as "slate-blue"]
1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 1/- salmon SG 4 from the right of the sheet with marginal watermark letters at right, margins just clear to huge except at left where just cut-into, indistinct void-grid cancel, Cat £4750+. Ex Lord Vestey: sold at a London auction in 2015 for £1320. BPA Certificate (2007). [The rare first printing: the colour was changed after only two sheets were printed. Most stamps offered as "salmon" are red-brown shades]
1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 1/- deep red-brown SG 4a, margins close to good except at right where a little cut-into, unused, Cat £2000. Ex 'Daneswood': sold at our auction of 29.3.2008 for $611.
1854-55 Lithographs Imperf 1/- deep red-brown SG 4a marginal example from the left of the sheet with vertical watermark lines at left, margins close to huge, unused, Cat £2000. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2004) states "rare shade".
1854-55 Lithographs Rouletted 7½-14 4d pale blue SG 5 rouletted clear of the design on all sides except at L/L, unusually cancelled with 'PERTH/OC26/1860' datehead from a duplex, Cat £700. Rare & underrated.
1854-55 Lithographs Rouletted 7½-14 4d blue SG 5a, rouletting on all sides (a little irregular at the base), unused, unpriced unused but SG 5 Cat £4000.
1854-55 Lithographs Pin-Perf 17 4d pale blue with 3mm Official Punch, a large stamp with pin-perfs clear of the design on three sides & cut from the sheet at right just clipping the design, neat BN '18' of Bunbury in blue. Unlisted in Gibbons, but mentioned in the first footnote below SG 6a. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2006) states "genuine in all respects...only example [with official punch] known to me". [This is a well known private separation, of similar status to the experimental separations of several Tasmanian towns (SG 91 to 117), that is deserving of full catalogue status. Mogens Juhl and Cecil Walkley each had an unpunched example, both similarly cancelled at Bunbury in blue]
1857-59 Hillman Lithographs Imperf 2d grey-black/red SG 15, an unusually large example from the top of the sheet with Marginal Watermark Lines & '...ST...' at the top, good colour, margins good to large at top & right and just shaved at left & base, unused, Cat £9000. An unusually fine example of this rare stamp. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2011) states "stamps of this issue were printed extremely close together". [Lord Vestey's three unused examples - each with the design touched on one side - sold for £4400 £5040 & £5400 respectively]
1857-59 Hillman Lithographs Imperf 2d grey-black/red SG 15, good colour, an unusually large example with margins just touched - at the top - to large with a fragment of the adjoining unit at left, light void-grid cancel, Cat £550. An unusually fine example that demonstrates just how close the transfers were to each other. [Examples with full margins should be treated with due suspicion]
1857-59 Hillman Lithographs Imperf 2d grey-black/red Printed on Both Sides SG 15a with the impression on the reverse upright relative to the face and Major Transfer Flaw affecting 'TERN' of 'WESTERN', an unusually large example with margins just touched - at the base - to large with a fragment of the adjoining unit at left, very light cancel at L/R, Cat £800+. An unusually fine example, that has the appearance of being unused, enhanced by having the two major varieties.
1857-59 Hillman Lithographs Imperf 2d grey-black/Indian red Printed on Both Sides SG 16a with the impression on the reverse inverted relative to the face, close margins at left & right and just touched/shaved elsewhere, light void-grid cancel largely clear of the Swan, Cat £900.
1860 Recess in the Colony Imperf 6d sage-green SG 28, good colour & very fresh appearance, margins just clear - at lower-right - to good, unused, Cat £3250. An unusually fine example of this scarce stamp, from another issue where the transfers were set too close together. BPA Certificate (2008).
1861 Perkins Bacon Intermediate Perf 14-16 1d rose SG 33, unusually well centred for this issue, unused, Cat £750. [Superior to Lord Vestey's two examples, that sold for £310 & £505]
1861 Perkins Bacon Intermediate Perf 14-16 4d vermilion SG 35, unusually well centred for this issue, one minor tonespot, unused, Cat £1900. Ex Lord Vestey: sold in 2015 for £600.
1861 Perkins Bacon Intermediate Perf 14-16 6d brown-purple SG 36, unusually well centred for this issue, unused, Cat £1100. [At least the equal of Lord Vestey's very fine example that sold for £1140]
1861 Perkins Bacon Intermediate Perf 14-16 1/- green SG 37, lovely rich colour, unused, Cat £2000. [Superior to Lord Vestey's very fine example, that sold for £1440]

1902-11 V/Crown 10/- bright purple ACSC W65B (SG 127a) marginal block of 4 from the right of the sheet, the upper units with a neat hinge remainder, the lower units are unmounted & rare thus, Cat $3600++ (£3800++) for mounted singles. A beautiful & desirable multiple of this very scarce stamp.
1902-11 V/Crown Irregular Compound Perf 11 to 12½ 2d orange-yellow ACSC W19B (SG 136) Perf 12½x12½x11x12½, remarkably well centred, Laverton cds of AU8/--, Cat $2000 (£1100). Ex Trevor Hiscock: sold at our auction of 22.2.2013 for $1340. RPSofV Certificate (2010). [The ACSC states "Several used examples are recorded"].

(Qty 11)
1905-12 Crown/A Mixed Perfs 1d pink Perf 12½ with an extra line of Perf 11 at the base, the Watermark Sideways, a couple of short perfs at U/L, Bunbury duplex. Rare. [NB: the ACSC doesn't have a Mixed Perfs listing for this denomination but does list Irregular Compound Perfs W15, Cat $600. The Gibbons listing is for '[Irregular] Compound Perfs' SG 161a, Cat £800. This stamp was originally one of a pair, they being the only recorded examples]
1912 Crown/A Line Perf 12½ 1/- sage-green ACSC W57 (SG 169a), characteristic irregular perfs & one pulled perf at U/L, heavy 1912 cds, Cat $1500 (£2500). Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2003) states "...only 5-10 examples recorded". [The ACSC states "...at least five examples can be confirmed..." Lord Vestey had six ! including a pair. This stamp is additional, as is Cecil Walkley's example - the best centred & probably the finest of them all - that sold at our auction of 14.4.2005 for $7572]
