1850-57 Half-Lengths Fourth State of 2d Die with Coarse Border & Background 2d red-lilac SG 15, close margins at left & base & wide at right, slightly trimmed at the top, surface abrasions especially at the base where the paper is thinned, unused, Cat £8500. A rare stamp. RPSofL Certificate (2019) states "part original gum" (??).
1854-56 Queen-on-Throne Lithographs Campbell & Fergusson 2d brown SG 37, large even margins with outer frameline at right, ironed-out horizontal crease that doesn't affect the outstanding facial appearance, unused, unpriced by Gibbons but SG 37b Cat £700.
1857-63 Emblems Perf 12 Horizontally Laid Paper 4d rose-carmine SG 87 horizontal strip of 4 tied to slightly larger piece by BN '3' of Castlemaine, minor characteristic staining from the blackboy gum used. A very scarce multiple.
1857-63 Emblems Single-Line '2' Wmk 2d grey-violet SG 101b with Major Void Areas at Right & Base, Geelong duplex well clear of the affected areas. Striking variety.
1901-10 'POSTAGE' V/Crown 1d pink Die II Perf 12½ misplaced at the base & corrected with Perf 11 resulting in Mixed Perfs ACSC V40 (SG 410a), a bit soiled, Cat $500 (£500). Rare. Ex Gary Diffen: sold for £288. RPSofV Certificate (2010). [The ACSC states "...very rare with probably only several examples recorded..."]
POSTAGE DUES: 1900-04 Wmk '85' 5/- scarlet & deep green SG D33, excellent centring, a few brown paper fibres on the reverse, late usage of Melbourne '1' killer, Cat £100 for CTO. Rare postally used: we can't recall seeing any of the 5/- values with a postal cancellation.
