image 1863-71 Chalons Experimental Separations Perf 12 by Walch & Sons under Contract to the Post Office 1d carmine with Error of Watermark '2' SG 70a, bars cancel of Hobart, Cat £2750. An underrated rarity. Ex Collins, Julian Beresford, 'Isleham', David Cohen and Joseph Hackmey. Clear RPSofV Certificate (1998) and RPSofL Certificate (2008) that states "perfs at top improved". [Gary Diffen had only two pen-cancelled stamps. About 30 examples are recorded, most with manuscript fiscal cancellations and/or faked cancellations. Only four stamps have been authenticated as genuine postally used examples]
