1853 Couriers Early Printings with All Lines Clear & Distinct 1d blue SG 2, margins good to large with complete outer framelines, shallow thin at the top that doesn't affect the exceptional facial appearance, unused, Cat £13,000. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2018) states "very rare in unused condition...superb appearance".
1853 Couriers Plate I Intermediate State 4d red-orange SG 7 [18], good even margins, light BN '59' cancel of Launceston, Cat £475. Superb! Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2019).
1853 Couriers Plate II Early to Intermediate Printing 4d red-orange, margins good to huge with a fragment of the adjoining unit at right, light BN '59' cancel, Cat £375. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2019) states "superb example". [We agree with Chris Ceremuga's observation that the Gibbons listing for Plate II is inadequate]

1880 Sidefaces 'TAS' Watermark 1d dull rosine Imperforate marginal block of 4 with lower right unit Wedge Flaw variety SG 164ca/cad, wide margins on all sides with current number '41' in chamfered box below bottom left unit, two hinge remains but 'Wedge Flaw' unit is unmounted, minor aging marks in margin only, Cat £750 for two imperforate pairs (+ premium for block of 4 and variety, which is unlisted imperforate). This is a late state of the Wedge Flaw with the void area measuring 3½mm at its widest. Ex Dr Owen Ingles.
1880-91 Sidefaces 'TAS' Watermark 1d rosine Perf 12 marginal pair the right unit with variety Wedge Flaw SG 164b/d, almost-complete current number '41' in chamfered box below left unit, hinge remainders, Cat £340+. 1880-1891 Sidefaces 'TAS' Watermark 'd./2½' surcharge on 9d blue marginal pair both Surcharge Double One Inverted variety SG 168a, plate number '7' in relief above left-hand unit, light horizontal crease affects both units, hinge remainder on stamps and some adhesion in margin. 1899-1900 Pictorials De La Rue Printing 2½d indigo SG 232 Partly Imperforate at Right due to diagonal paper fold which unusually has not affected the perforations at top, a couple of minor blemishes, unused without gum. Ex Dr Owen Ingles. [Very few production errors are known from the De La Rue printings. Gary Diffen's 'Australian Colonies Errors' did not feature anything similar.]
1899-1900 Pictorials De La Rue Printing 2½d indigo SG 232 complete sheet (10x6; ex top right unit removed), otherwise full margins including Plate Number '1' at left-centre, perforation guideline crosses & retaining screw heads, minor perf separation mostly in margins, some folds mostly along perf lines or in margins and units in third column affected by a vertical crease, unmounted, Cat £1,298+ for basic stamps mounted.

1901 'POSTAGE STAMPS OF TASMANIA' presentation sheet with 45 stamps mounted in place either overprinted 'REPRINT' (apparently all with after) or 'SPECIMEN', or Cancelled-To-Order except the Couriers 1d & 4d printed from defaced plates without overprint, the Tablets to 5/- CTO and the £1 'SPECIMEN' overprint, the Pictorials all CTO, a couple with perforation or other faults including some light aging marks, the sheet folded clear of the stamps (heavily so in parts; minor closed tears repaired at top). 1905-11 Pictorials Typographed Crown/A 1d Mount Wellington Perf 12½ Imperforate at Base marginal example from the base of the sheet with 'CA' Monogram ACSC T14ba, very lightly mounted large-part o.g., Cat $500 plus a large premium for the monogram. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2019) states "Probably only one sheet existed and if so this would be unique with the CA Monogram".

POSTAL FISCALS: 1886 Provisionals being Colonial Keyplates with Blank Tablets in doubly-fugitive ink on Wmk 'TAS' paper, in violet with 'TASMANIA/POSTAGE & REVENUE/TWO SHILLINGS/AND SIXPENCE' overprint (a couple of uneven perfs - one pulled - at left) & in green with '.../10 SHILLINGS' overprint, both CTO with partial 'G.P.O./...' cds of Melbourne (?), large-part original gum. Ex Dr Owen Ingles. [The Colonial Agents requisitioned stamps of these values from De La Rue. However, in 1882 Tasmania had authorised postal use of revenue stamps printed in the Colony. Hobart advised the Crown Agents that the proposed stamps would be "useless"; they were printed & despatched nevertheless, but were never issued: see Eaton at p431-436]
REPRINTS: 1871 Sidefaces Special Printings on Unwatermarked Paper Perf 11½ set comprising 1d rose, 2d green, 3d red-brown, 4d blue, 9d blue, 10d black & 5/- mauve all overprinted 'REPRINT ' (without stop), rough perfs and the 9d with official repair at top, large-part original gum with hinge remainders (the 3d with minor thins).
