Symbol: 		image 1897 (Nov 20): Registered Cover from St. Helena to Montreal, Canada bearing 1864-80 2 d. yellow in combination with 1884-94 2½ d. ultramarine and 3 d. deep mauve, three fine and fresh adhesives, tied by bold grill obliterator, "ST. HELENA NO 20 97" despatch cds in black alongside. Obverse shows clear strikes of oval "REGISTERED / ST. HELENA" and "REGISTERED LONDON 14 DE 97" datestamps. Reverse with four different Montreal cds's (Dec 24) as the receiver was not found immedeately. An appealing and interesting cover, a rarely seen connection. (Image 1) (Image 2) (Image)

Calais transit cds on obverse and taxed '10' décimes due upon receipt. Right hand adhesive with slight scuff at top right but an extremely rare and attractive cover.
