1901 (April 17) typed letter on Post & Telegraph Department stationery with the signature of "C Todd" (stated by our vendor to be authentic). [Charles Todd was something of a Rennaisance Man. An astronomer, meteorologist & electrical engineer, from 1856 he was instrumental in expansion of the telegraph network in South Australia & beyond. He held various government positions & retired as Deputy PMG in 1905]
1858 (Dec 11) folded entire to England endorsed "via Marseilles" & "Registered Letter" with solo franking of Adelaide Printing 1/- yellow-orange (damaged U/R corner) cancelled by void circle & bars paying 6d ship letter rate plus 6d registration fee, 'PORT ADELAIDE/SOUTH AUSTRALIA' cds and scarce 'REGISTERED No. ["326"]' h/s on face, curved '[Crown]/REGISTERED' h/s and 'LONDON/FE 5/59/PAID' cds both in red alongside plus unframed London b/s, a few minor blemishes. [We believe that the stamp has been added later and does not belong; nevertheless it is an attractive item with scarce markings but must be offered "as is"]
1877 (Jan 27) Colton & Co cover to Scotland with Perf 10 2d dull orange & Perf 10x11½-12½ 6d Prussian blue tied by GPO cds with code 'S3', very fine Edinburgh arrival b/s of MR12/77, minor flap fault.
1897 commercial cover to the Murchison Goldfield in Western Australia with DLR 1d Perf 15 pair (scarce on cover) tied by 'PORT WAKEFIELD' cds, stained on the reverse & the flap removed.
