1889 (10 Dec) Duiven envelope reg from Embekelweni to Lady Grey, bearing ½d black pair, 1d. carmine vertical strip of three & 2d olive-bistre Perf 12½ (2), all cancelled by fine strikes of the 'EMBEKELWENI' oval rubber d/stamp and showing framed registration h/stamp alongside with, on reverse, Steynsdorp (17.12), Pretoria (20.12), Kimberley (23.12), Aliwal North (25.12) and Lady Grey (26.12) d/stamps. 1889 (3 Nov) double rate Tamsen envelope from Embekelweni to Waterberg, bearing ½d black pairs (2) & 1d carmine pair, one 1d being R1/10 showing lower half of 'e' blocked, R2/10 showing bar of 'e' thinned, nearly resembling a 'c', each cancelled by 'EMBEKELWENI' oval rubber d/stamp with a further strike at left, the reverse with Steynsdorp (5.11) & Pretoria (8.11) d/stamps. A highly attractive franking and the earliest recorded Tamsen Swaziland cover. RPS Cert. 1993. Note: It would appear that the post office canceller was not available on opening, so early mail was postmarked with the oval telegraph cancellation. Provenance: Peter van der Molen, May 2015. 1892 (12 Dec) Transvaal Vürtheim 1d red card from Bremersdorp to Holland, uprated with 1889-92 ½d grey with black overprint and ½d grey with carmine overprint, both clearly tied by 'BREMERSDORP/SWAZIEL' squared-circle d/stamps and with Assen arrival c.d.s. (9.1) below the adhesives. A clean & most attractive franking. The earliest recorded overseas use from Swaziland.
