CHRISTMAS DAY CANCELLATIONS collection of covers/postcards (90+) incl. pre-stamp from 1809 Worcester mileage mark on 25th Dec, 1839 Free Frank Front with good 'FREE' for the 25th, numerous postcards with a variety of 25th marks c.d.s's, squared circles etc. Noted - eight covers or cards with 'POSTED IN ADVANCE' marks incl. 1903 Manchester oval, Circular Types for 1906 Liverpool, 1908 Norwich, 1908 Manchester, 1909 Warrington Columbia machine marks for Manchester (2) 1907 & 1909, also a number of individual stamps/pieces (16) with Posted in Advance pmks. ACCUMULATION incl. 1840's/50's PAID MARKS various sizes/shapes, noted - several of Preston & Scotland, 1841 1d imperfs (58) all bear Scottish numeral cancels, front bearing scarce 'Crowned/To Be/Delivered/Free' octagonal mark in red signed by Earl Lichfield, 1840 Uniform 4d post entire London to Beverley, Yorks dated 6th Jan with London d/stamp for same day & m/s '4' on front, 1828 Irish entire bearing the scarce MID/DAY/MAIL circular mark in red, 1832 entire from Bath to Bristol bearing 'Taunton/Penny Post' mark and altered '9' to 1/1 with inspectors initials, range of 1890 Penny Post Jubilee covers/cards incl. Hoster cancels, S. Kensington Christmas card (poor), some hand drawn/printed illustrated cards associated with Admiral John Moresby (mixed condition). An interesting assembly, viewing recommended.
