ENVELOPES - STAMPED TO ORDER: 1915 KGV Sideface 4d orange linen-lined envelope (230x180mm) with printed address of Kreglinger & Fernau Woolbrokers in London & 'Wool Sample only.' at U/L ACSC ES20, intact with the linen-bag extension folded under, unused, Cat $4000. Ex Martin Frischauff. [The ACSC states "about eight mint examples are recorded". No used example has been recorded. It is noteworthy that John Sinfield had only a partial envelope. Steve Schumann's complete example sold at the Prestige auction of 22.4.2006 for $4660. Another example, with minor defects, sold at the Prestige auction of 27.7.2009 for $2912]
ENVELOPES - STAMPED TO ORDER: 1924 Star with 'POSTAGE' 1d green + Without 'POSTAGE' ½d orange ACSC ES44 window-envelope for Berlei Ltd with slogan 'BE AUSTRALIAN! BUY AUSTRALIAN GOODS' at the base, bold Sydney cds of 3SP24, scarce 'BOYS WEEK/...' poster stamp affixed to the reverse, minor blemishes, opened at the top & partly at the base, Cat $3500. A very scarce item, especially if you distinguish between the different printed slogans. NB: the ½d embossing exists only on this issue. [Superior quality to the example that sold at our auction of 24.11.2018 for $808]
REGISTRATION ENVELOPES - STAMPED TO ORDER: 1942 KGVI 5½d ACSC RES2 for the Hobart Savings Bank with very fine 'REGISTERED HOBART/5AU48/TAS-AUST' cds, blue/white R label & hand-ruled registration lines in red, minor opening tears repaired with archival tape, Cat $10,000. Ex Martin Frischauff. Only the second recorded example. [The two recorded examples are subtly different: that illustrated in the ACSC has a three-line imprint at L/L; on this envelope, there is a one-line imprint]
It should be noted that this and the just-as-rare KGVI 5d issue may properly be considered Stamped to Order Envelopes because they lack at least printed registration lines. The stamp is undeniably a registration indicium but collectors of STO Envelopes could easily justify inclusion of these issues under that heading. In fact, there is a similar earlier envelope with KGV Sideface 5d that is listed under STO Envelopes, as ES24.

REGISTRATION ENVELOPES: 1912 Melbourne Printing KEVII 3d red on off-white stock with the Flap Folded to the Back plus Reset Text & Smaller-Boxed 'REGISTERED', CTO with 'MELBOURNE/DE9/13' cds. Unrecorded by Higgins & Gage. Only four CTO examples are known, all from the Australia Post Archives Sale No 1 (1987). In addition, only a couple of unused examples and two used examples are recorded. Mark Diserio's CTO example sold at our auction of 3.10.2017 for $1152.
On 19.12.1912, only 13 days before the first of the Kangaroo & Map stamps were issued, JB Cooke, the Victorian Government Stamp Printer, released a mere 3900 of these envelopes, of which some 3100 were destroyed before February 1914. It is likely that examples were CTO'd in anticipation of the looming destruction order. [NB: this envelope is a 'mule': the lines on the reverse are in reddish brown, not the red of the text & the lines on the face]
