1901 (Jan 22) usage of German Navy supply ship 'S.M.S. Moewe' postcard by Verlag von Schulze Sydney with both 'POST CARD' & 'POSTKARTE' headings on address side, to Germany with message headed "Sydney" posted on the ship with Germany 5pf green tied by superb strike of its 'KAIS. DEUTSCHE/ MARINE-/SCHIFFSPOST/No.7' cds with another superb strike alongside, Kiel '24.2.01' arrival d/s. Stated to be the only known Golden Age postcard of a German Navy ship produced in Australia (note the spelling of the ship's name - altered for English pronunciation - which in German is rendered as 'Möve'). It is likely that the ship was in Sydney as part of Federation celebrations, and that the card was printed during its visit.
1913 (Oct 21) Switzerland General Insurance Co advertising envelope to Zurich with rare four-colour franking of First Wmk ½d green, 2d grey, 3d olive & 1/- blue-green (Cat $1250 on cover with other stamps) tied by 'SYDNEY' cds, largely superb arrival backstamp, central vertical fold. The rate was foreign letter 2½d x7 = 17½d = 1/5½d.
1914 (Sep 22) long cover (305x117mm) to Norway with rare franking of First Watermark ½d green, 6d blue (torn before being affixed, marginal example from the left of the right-hand pane) & 9d violet (very fine) tied by 'NEWCASTLE/NSW' cds and red & black/white R label, resealed with flimsy label with superb 'OPENED BY CENSOR' handstamp in violet, very fine Norwegian 'KONGSVINGERB POSTEXP/6 XI 14/ A ' TPO transit & light 'BERGEN' arrival backstamp, central vertical fold. The rate was foreign letter 2½d x5 = 12½d + 3d registration = 1/3½d.
1915 (Feb 18) usage of patriotic envelope with Map of Australia over Union Jack in red, white & blue, to France with South Australia 2½d blue tied by 'VICTOR HARBOUR' Squared Circle cancel and the address intentionally written 'upside down' inside the map as greetings from 'Down Under'. A clever use of a very attractive envelope.
1915 (March 29) usage of Souvenir of Victor Harbor Letterrette published by EJ Walker, Victor Harbor with postcard-sized photographic views of Victor Harbor from Granite Island, Causeway, Bridal Spray, Umbrella Rock, Encounter Bay Tablet and Hindmarsh River & Bridge, to Rutherglen (Vic) and KGV Heads 1d red solo tied by 'HAMLEY BRIDGE/STH AUSTR' cds, a few mostly minor edge faults & blemishes.

Rare.
1915 (?) complete black/red 'VICTORIA/INTERSTATE/PARCEL POST' label with rare solo franking of Second Wmk 2/- brown (Cat $10,000 on cover with other stamps; unpriced as a solo franking) tied by an indistinct cancellation, a little soiled. An outstanding rates item. Ex 'Tillie Mitchell': sold at our auction of 29.8.2020 for $2275. [2/- was the intrastate rate for a parcel weighing between 7 & 8lb. It was also the rate to GB between 2 & 3lb via the all sea route or up to 1lb via Europe]
1915 (Oct 2) entire black/pink 'TASMANIA/INTERSTATE/PARCEL LABEL' with rare franking of Second Wmk 1/- dull green (a couple of short perfs; Cat $2000 on cover) tied by very fine large-part strike of the impressive 'CHIEF PARCEL OFFICE/HOBART' d/s in blue, British-pattern 'ARMY POST OFFICE /11DE/16/SZ3' arrival cds in use at the Australian Base PO at Suez (Egypt). 1915 (Nov 10) British cover to "Geo. Boysen Esq/German Detention Camp/Trial Bay, South West Rocks/New South Wales" very fine strike of the seriffed 'CENSORED/DETENTION BARRACKS/TRIAL BAY NSW' cachet in violet alongside on face, a couple of minor bends. [Trial Bay Detention Camp on the tip of the Arakoon Peninsula around 450km N of Sydney held German 'enemy aliens' from August 1915 until closed in 1918. George Boysen had first been interned at the Diyatalawa Camp, Ceylon and was then transferred to Trial Bay. His diaries for this period are held by the Library of New South Wales]
