World War I 'Daily Mail Official War Pictures' extensive collection arranged by series with coloured, sepia & real photo versions of numerous images some with changed captions & other varieties, some minor duplication, generally fine to very fine; also six of the envelopes in rather mixed condition but presentable. World War I 'Newspaper Illustrations' accumulation of cards printed in England from official French war photographs with many outstanding studies of a soldier's daily life, supplying the troops, etc (116); a range of similar cards from various sources including some Canadian & American subjects; French cards featuring bombed-out towns etc, plus non-military subjects including many LL cards; a selection of German military covers & postal cards; etc, condition variable but generally fine to very fine. A very interesting lot.

A terrific array of Edwardian Humour cards including by Cynicus, Lance Thackeray, Louis Wain and many others with subjects ranging across the full spectrum of pre-World War I life including Women's Fashion, Relationships, Sport, Motoring, Servants, Seaside, Alcohol & Temperance, Entertainment, 'Swanking' (= parading like a peacock), etc, some soiling mostly on the address-sides otherwise generally fine to very fine. Much of the humour is tame by later standards but some is quite bawdy and the double entendres signal what was to come in later decades. A delightful collection that cries out to be expanded and written-up as a social study.

Extensive Humour collection of mostly 1920s to 1950s cards with an array of louche subject matter, double entendres a-plenty, lots of smut and some that border on the obscene, despite all of which many are very funny, condition variable especially in the earlier material but most are fine to very fine or at least of very fine appearance.
