image UNUSUAL 2d BLUE & 1d PINK ENVELOPE GROUP: Includes wrapper inscribed "BOOK POST PAID" with 2d pale blue die (dated 11.9.85) uprated with 3d lilac (SG 191) each cancelled by London "E.C. 20" barred numeral. Fine, printed address panel of "North British & Mercantile Insurance Company" addressed to the Company office in New York. Very fine, scarce and most attractive; Env. from London to Montreal with 2d blue die (dated 29.10.91), uprated with halfpenny vermilion Jubilee stamp. Both stamp and die cancelled by hooded London 2 Dec. 1891 d.s; 1891 G. Harding & Sons advertising wrapper with 2d blue die dated 24.4.91 and cancelled "S.E./12.5.91". Remarkable destination of Salt Ponds, Liberian Coast. Some foxing at left and small tear on lower edge. Lot also incl. Four 1d pink envs with good to fine MX cancels incl. 26 Apr. 1842 London local, Jan 1843 Carlisle to Edinburgh, 1843 Honiton to Tiverton & 16 Dec. 1843 to London (origin unclear), also Liverpool to Salisbury commercial Registered env with 2d pale blue die (dated 29.7.81) cancelled by 16 Jul. 1898 oval d.s.
