1970-71 Birds 25c Norfolk Island Parrots on Glazed Ordinary Paper SG 113a, exceptional centring, unmounted, grossly undercatalogued at £475: compare with next lot SG 636a. One of the rarest stamps from the Pacific Islands. With a normal used stamp for comparison. [Steven Bradford's unmounted & CTO examples sold at the Prestige auction of 9.11.2002 for $1584 & $2037 respectively. In the intervening 19 years, and despite checking every example of this stamp we encounter, this is the ONLY other example we have seen!]
1997 Butterflies 75c vertical marginal pair from base of the upper pane, the first unit with Gold Printing ('NORFOLK ISLAND' & '75c') Omitted SG 636a (Cat £425), the second unit with the Text in White (as a result of the "gold" not properly affixing) & with small coincident surface abrasion, unmounted. With a normal single stamp for comparison. [The missing inscriptions are actually impressed un-inked (an albino impression) and can be clearly observed when the stamp is inclined to a light source. Interesting error, especially in this se-tenant format. Sold at the Prestige auction of 7.7.2007 for $466]
2001 South Pacific Games pair of Miniature Sheets with designs including Tennis, Golf, Athletics, Cycling and (outdoors!) Squash, unmounted. Unissued. [Legal considerations because of failure to obtain permission from the athletes who were featured caused the issue to be cancelled. Similar lots sold at the Prestige auctions of 9.11.2002 & 11.7.2008 for $891 & $844 respectively and at our auction of 26.3.2021 for $808] (2 M/Ss)
