Cat No: Collection
Extensive collection of Customised Advertising Labels (CALs) to 2020 sheet stamps & self-adhesives largely complete plus booklets with duplication throughout, some blocks & sheetlets; a display of 'NZ Post's Alternative Stamps as Postage'; 'i-site' booklets x30 & M/Ss; plus a box of related FDCs including 2009-2011 'Year Sets' & exhibition covers some signed by the stamp designers; and postally used covers with issues of Pete's Post and Fastaway etc including several to Australia. Many of these stamps were from very small print-runs. This is therefore an exceptional basis for a serious collection of what are likely to be recognised in the future as modern rarities.

2006 Kapa Haka $1.50 Patu tied to a commercial 'fastPOST' cover from Auckland to Christchurch by a typically smudged cancellation of 04AUG06. A rare postal usage of the second-highest denomination in the set. The only example of any value we have offered on cover. Unlisted by Campbell Paterson and Gibbons on the basis that they were not officially issued. A terrific opportunity, especially for anyone who does "Indigenous Peoples" or even "Dance" as a thematic! [Offered with NZ Post's official brochure for the set]
The most controversial stamp release of recent times: New Zealand Post actually cancelled the issue only days before they were to go on sale on 7.6.2006. However, they had already sent out a number of mail orders to private individuals: surely that classifies it as an "official issue" albeit unintentional - definitely more so than the listed Christchurch Exhibition 1d claret and any number of other stamps with a colourful history. New Zealand Post subseuently 'requested' return of the stamps and claim that two clients actually did so! The best guess in the trade is that only 46 mint sets of 5 (three sets being in presentation packs) have been accounted for, plus a further 12 sets on First Day Covers and a single CTO set (with no mention of postal usage). In real terms that is a miniscule number, especially for a popular country. When one considers the six-figure sums paid for similar 'issued but withdrawn' stamps from Germany, the estimate must be considered to be an absolute bargain.
