image THE RARE LONDON FOREIGN BRANCH DOTTED FRAME "Oz at 12/- per Oz" MARK ON E FROM MEXICO; 4th Apr. 1831 E from "Veracruz" to London with a very fine dotted-frame "Oz at 12s/- per Oz" mark (one of the rarest "Oz" marks of all) DELETED. Endorsed with "p Packet/Eclipse" and the over charged rate of "2oz £1-6-8" (nearly 9 times the 2s-1d Packet rate + the reduced 11d rate from Falmouth to London - it should have been £1-4-0). The packet must have been diverted to Ireland as there is a red diamond Dublin "AM/19 MY 19/1831" hs on back flap adjacent to London dotted "F.P.O./MY 23/1831" hs.
