Sale No: 245
Lot No: 150
Symbol: F
½d green with Map of Australia Extending to the Right-Hand Frame, both the watermark & the light 'MOSMANS BAY/DE12/1913/NSW' cds impinge on the affected area, a little aged. A truly dramatic transient variety caused by foreign matter - apparently a circular piece of paper 10mm in diameter - on the printing plate. [Our vendor has advised that he acquired this stamp at auction for $900]
½d green on Very Thin Paper punctured Small 'OS' block of 6 (2x3), the second unit with 'ROSTAGE' Third State with Retouch over 'US' of 'AUSTRALIA' ACSC 1(2)eb, well centred, neat 'PT PIRIE/28OC14/STH AUSTRALIA' cds, Cat $325++. Thin Paper is unlisted in this issue. [A very appealing block for multiple reasons]

4d aniline orange ACSC 15B, well centred, unmounted, Cat $2750. Probably the finest example we have seen.
5d chestnut on Thin Paper ACSC #16a, a remarkable over-inked blotchy impression that creates the illusion of a double-print, lightly mounted, Cat $1000. Simon Dunkerley Certificate (2008). [Sold at the Prestige auction of 24.5.2008 for $535]

10/- grey & pink ACSC 47A (SG 14), excellent centring, slight wrinkle, Cat $2000 (£900). Very scarce & underrated, especially this fine. [Sold at our auction of 30.11.2019 for $800]

Cat No: 16 shade
£2 black & crimson ACSC 55B (SG 16 shade) from the base of the sheet with misplaced watermark & horizontal marginal watermark-line, strong colours, light gum-bend, very lightly mounted at the base, Cat $17,500 (£6500 for the normal shade). [The ACSC listing for this scarce shade as "grey & deep rose" is misleading]
£2 black & rose CTO with Melbourne cds ACSC 55Aw (SG 16), well centred, Cat $5500 (£4000). Superb! [The high values for inclusion in collector's sets were handstamped 'Specimen'.
