image WWII RED CROSS FORMS: an extensive collection of 1940-44 used Red Cross forms, mainly to Jersey (99) but some ex Jersey (12), all with Briefstempel and Geneva Red Cross hs's and a wide range of Censor marks represented. Inc. 1941 form showing rare use of the Jersey "Dienststelle" censor mark with no. 35372 in red; 1942 letter from the Jersey Bailiff's Enquiry and News Office advising that only one message to a single addressee can be sent per month and to try again next month(!) with original env. (v. rare); 1943 form ex Egypt from a soldier serving in the Middle East Forces to his 5-year-old son in Jersey, with Cairo and Geneva Red Cross cachets, British Military & German Red Cross (Paris) censor marks, "COMTE INTERNATIONAL DE LA CROIX-ROUGE" and two blue chemical wash marks testing for writing in invisible ink; 1943 form ex Jersey to Rochester, New York, USA bearing the first type of American Red Cross cachet in red-rose dated 19 Aug 1943 (piece torn from the bottom right corner - does not affect cachet); Two pieces of official stationery from the Bailiff of Jersey's Enquiry and News Service stating "This is a reply to your enquiry and you may keep the form" (no other details specified); and two window envs. (no contents) printed "COMITÉ INTERNATIONAL DE LA CROIX-ROUGE - GENÉVE", one with 16x5mm "REPLY" cachet in green on front, the other with fine, slightly smudged purple Briefstempel mark on front in centre. A handful of forms are from a single correspondent to residents of Jersey. Many items showing blue chemical wash marks testing for invisible ink. Mostly in v. fine condition.
