image 1936 (Aug) - Airplane crash at Crete: Two covers from India to England (one from Baroda R.M.S., the other from Calcutta) both despatched Aug. 17th, 1936, flown with the flying boat Short S17 Kent Scipio G-ABFA on there Australia-England route, which crashed and sank while trying to alight in Mirabella Bay, Crete. Both covers with "DAMAGED BY (SEA) WATER" handstamps.
