image 1855, early folded letter from SOERABAYA/India via overland mail from TRIEST to Rotterdam/Netherlands, high Indian tax of 120 pies (=10 anna = 62-4 kr.), this expensive route is used for fast delivery, because the two other cheaper possiblities were 9 a. = ca. 57 kr. over Prussia or est. 8 1/2 a. = ca. 54 kr. over London meant several days loss, the direct way was more expensive and less fast, with arrival cancellation Rottderdam in red on reverse and red box cancellation INDIA/OVER TRIEST on both sides, fresh from the archive and exceedingly rare, XF!früher Faltbrief von SOERABAYA/Indien via Überlandtransport von TRIEST nach Rotterdam/Niederlande, hoch taxiert mit 120 pies (=10 anna=62-4 kr), der teurere Weg läßt sich dadurch begründen, dass die 9 a. = ca. 57 kr. für den Umweg über Preussen gegolten haben oder über London mit 8 1/2 a. = ca. 54 kr., was einen erheblichen Zeitverlust darstellt, somit war es eine Form der Expresszustellung für Zentral-Europa über Triest und Bahnpost zu senden, der direkte Weg war erheblich teurer und langsamer, mit rückseitigem Ankunftsstempel von Rotterdam so wie sehr seltenem, bild- und rückseitigem!
