JAMMU&KASHMIR: 1867 (AP 22) small native cover from Jammu to Amritsar, franked on reverse by 1866 ½a grey-black circular, cut square with magenta seal cancel, and tied by very fine British Indian "UMRITSUR" arrival CDS (AP 24 67), with SEALKOTE transit CDS x2 (very fine in black dated AP 22, and part in red dated AP 23) and framed "TOO LATE" alongside. Slight faults (crease at foot and minor thin), still an exceptional example of this rare and distinctive early colour, usually found with the red seal of Srinagar. Both stamps tied by "L" in circle of bars, and subsequently in transit by very fine Woolwich/264 duplex (JA 13 91), the indicium with KASHMIR despatch CDS. On reverse, purple sender's oval datestamp, and Bombay, Woolwich and Newcastle-on-Tyne CDSs. A little roughly opened, still a very fine and scarce overseas usage, with detailed BPA cert (2007).
