image FIRTH OF CLYDE - CALEDONIAN STEAMERS - CLYDE STEAMERS: A box file containing 3 separate small displays - a 23 page display of 36 PPCs & photographs (colour or B&W) showing steam packets, ferries, piers, and views relating to the Caledonian Steam Packet Company, incs. 3 envs./PPC with fine oval "THE CALEDONIAN STEAM PACKET CO./*LIMITED*" cachets of varied style; a 15 page display of 15 colour PPCs & photographs depicting Clyde Steamers most with mail carried by the associated steamer (dated 1963-71), most with various fine oval "THE CALEDONIAN STEAM PACKET CO." cachets (some with steamer names), a lettercard with a "D.E.V. LOCHFYNE" & "ARDRISHAIG MAIL STEAMER" hss, and a PPC with a boxed "POSTED ON BOARD THE/ PADDLE STEAMER/WAVERLEY" cachet, plus a David MacBrayne special sailings advertisement for the 1960 season; and a 15 page display of 28 colour PPCs showing views of the Firth of Clyde from Greenock to Girvan and points between. image THE CLAN LINE 1946-66: A box file containing a well researched, well-written 65 page display recording the history of the new ships built for the Clan Line, mainly by the Greenock Dockyard Company, beautifully illustrated with covers (commercial & commemorative, posted between 1954-81), and real photographs & picture postcards of ships. Envs. with a variety of "Paquebot" and "Ship Letter" cachets, posted on board ship or "On the high Seas" for ships representing the Clans MacLay, MacTaggart, Shaw, Macintosh, MacIntyre, Malcolm, Matheson, Menzies, MacIver, MacIndoe, MacIlwraith, Grant, MacGillivray, Ramsay, Ranald, Robertson, and various classes of ships. Inc. a 1978 Clan Ross env. with 4 Machin stamps tied with Hamburg cds, a v. fine boxed "PAQUEBOT" cachet adjacent to a boxed "HIGH SEAS MAIL/Posted on board/KINPURNIE CASTLE/GLASGOW..." cachet, signed by the Master of the ship (as are several other covers). image HEBRIDEAN STEAMERS - RMS CARONIA - THE COMET - LOCH LOMOND MAIL BOAT - ETC.: A small box containing 5 separate small displays - a 13 page display of mail (1908-79, mainly 1960s) carried by Hebridean Steamers, mainly of David MacBrayne Ltd. but inc. a post card of the steamer Hebrides of John McCallum & Co. with a v. fine "COLONSAY/A/JY 24/08/744" Combined Datestamp which ties a KEVII ½d Green stamp; a 14 page display with 24 colour PPCs showing views of the Islands of the Hebrides; a 10 sheet display of mail posted on board ship between 1950-67 on the cruises of the RMS Caronia built by John Brown & Co. Ltd. of Clydebank for the Cunard White Star Line illustrated with 6 PPCs of destinations during the Great African, Great World & North Cape cruises, and 1 of the ship; a 10 sheet display of a variety of illustrated commemorative covers for the 150th Anniversary of the paddle steamer Comet in 1962, all posted on board ship showing a variety of fine cachets and postmarks; a 5 sheet display of mail carried on the Loch Lomond Mail Boat Service by various boats between 1958-67 (5 envs.); plus a padded album with stock pages, and loose material, containing a range of Scottish paquebot/steamer mail/commemorative covers (37, 1960s-80s), PPCs & photographs of vessels (40), stamps depicting ships (11).
