image Small old-time album of mostly ships including real photo types, a few Navy, a couple of advertising cards including for Canadian-Pacific (superb!); also four real photo cards - unfortunately truncated - of Samuel Cody, 'Cody Waterplane', 'The Scene of Mr Cody's Fatal Accident' & another of the tail of the crashed plane; finally an Australian real photo card of WWI nurses & a few patients endorsed on the reverse "McLeod Repat Hospital", condition variable. [Samuel Franklin Cody was an American adventurer who migrated to England where he became a prominent early aviator, holder of a number of distance records, and was twice winner of the Michelin Trophy. He was contracted by he War Office to develop aircraft but in 1909 the government decided to stop backing such efforts: very prescient of them! In 1913, while flying the 'Cody Floatplane', the aircraft broke-up at 200 feet in the air and Cody & his passenger, Oxford & County cricketer William Evans, were both killed] (Qty 80 approx) (Image1)
