1689 folded letter from Sir Thomas Samwell (member of English Parliament) to Thomas Wagstaffe (his brother-in-law) with London Bishop mark dated JY 6 at UL. Contents of correspondence (transcript provided) inc reference to The Siege of Londonderry (April/August 1689). Richard Talbot the Earl of Tyrconnell (Irish Jacobite, born 1631, dies 1691). Convention Parliament (21 Jan 1689-Feb 1690) & other events inc the Kings of Denmark & Sweden sending '15 Men of War' & '10000 Landmen' to assist the King (William) in Ireland against King James II. 1867-83 QV £5 orange, letters AA, top value, white paper. VF fresh MLH, nice original gum, beautiful bright colour & excellent centring. SG 137 cat £12,500+.
