image 1855-1873 Early Covers to Canada Nice group of seven covers addressed to Upper Canada, five from England, one from Ireland and one from Scotland. Includes 1855 Crimean War with 1p franking, plus 1/4 (unpaid 10p currency) to collect, 1858 1p (2) + 4p Allan Line rate, sent first packet principle to Canada via Cunard Line instead, 1859 4p rose pair from Northern Ireland, via Cunard Line, 1861 6p on insufficiently prepaid folded cover (top flap missing), three covers dated 1865, 1866 and 1873, first two franked with 6p and third with 3p for Allan Line rate, but sent by First Packet Principle to Canada via the more expensive (and faster) route on the Cunard Line with additional unpaid handstamps; minor flaws on a few, otherwise Fine or better; an elusive group.
