image 1800s MAIL TO OR VIA THE WIRRAL AREA: A 1796-1857 set of covers mainly posted to the Birkenhead / Liverpool / Chester area inc. a 1796 EL to Copenhurst with a mainly fine rare large "WANDSH./-1-" Wandsworth receiving house hs; an 1884 env. (minor faults) to Rock Ferry franked with two 1d lilacs tied with Wrexham duplexes with an "824" instead of "924" error (recorded used in 1884 only); an 1848 EL containing an invoice from the "Walton Academy" addressed to Birkenhead with a fine "WALTON" UDC on front; plus other UDCs, duplexes, etc. on mail posted to or via Birkenhead, Mollington, Spital, Sutton Chester, or Woodside.
