Not so fast, my friend. Small date wheels were introduced only in late-1956; and this cds was proofed only in 1962. This is a classic case of JM Gower, owner of Wesley Cover Service and postmaster at Largs North - no conflict-of-interest there! - satisfying an order from a client by back-dating his cds.
1950-52 Definitives 1½d green, 2½d scarlet, 2½d purple-brown, 3d green, 3½d brown, 4½d scarlet and 7½d blue each on correctly dated unaddressed illustrated covers by Arthur Bergen of Adelaide, very fine to superb!

1970 Commonwealth Parliamentary Association 6c tied to Australia Post official long-format cover 230x100mm by 'CANBERRA CITY/FIRST DAY OF ISSUE/-20C70/ACT-AUST' cds, neatly hand-addressed to Watson ACT, stamp slightly crooked with a couple of perfs over edge of envelope, plus a 'normal' 165x92mm cover.
