Markings on 1912 covers returned to sender, good range of CDS & instructional markings (no duplication) including from Bright, Clunes, Colac, Lancefield Junction, Longwarry, Shepparton (unboxed h/s in violet), Walhalla, Warragul, Wodonga (with 'MO&SB' cds), Wiliamstown (with 'MONEY ORDER' cds), etc, plus a range of other country & suburban offices noted Moonee Ponds resealed with stamp selvedge with 'JBC' Monogram, also 'LOWER BUCKLAND' & 'WICKLIFFE' unframed CDS with manuscript endorsements, some with minor blemishes/edge faults but mostly fine to very fine.

Balmoral: "Balmoral/4 Decr 1855/Victoria" manuscript cancel, complete & superb on Queen-on-Throne 2d rejoined horizontal pair 'FL-GM' Pos [31-32], margins just touching to good. PO 31.10.1855. Balmoral was allocated Barred Oval '109' - the 'last' number issued - but obviously did not receive this until some time after opening, requiring the use of manuscript cancels in the interim. The earliest recorded postal marking from this office. [Western District; 41km N of Coleraine] A similar item dated "16 Decr 1855" - the right-hand unit with a heavy crease - sold at out auction of 24.5.2008 for $506.
Maldon: "Maldon/10 May 54" manuscript cancel, a little faded but legible & complete on Queen-on-Throne 2d horizontal strip of 3 'HM-IN-KO' Stone 4 Pane 1 Pos [8-10], faults including rounded U/R corner and two closed/repaired tears. PO 14.3.1854. Maldon was allocated Barred Oval '78' but obviously did not receive this until some time after opening, requiring the use of manuscript cancels in the interim. The earliest recorded postal marking from this office. [Goldfields; 15km WNW of Castlemaine]
Manuscript diagonal lines unknown origin on Woodblock Imperf 6d orange marginal example from the right of the sheet, large to huge margins except at left where a little cut-into & thinned.
Ascot Military Camp: 'MILITARY CAMP ASCOT/28OC15/WESTN AUST' cds, very fine strike tying KGV 1d red defective cover to Perth. PO opened at Belmont Park Racecourse late-1915; closed -/2/1917.
