image BUXTON - RARE "Missent To/Buxton" MARK IN BLACK ON 1d RED IMPERF. COVER EX HULL; 21 May 1842 EL from Hull to Hathersage with 1d Red (blued Ivory Head shows right through the paper of the cover; good to huge margins all round but just shaved at top right) tied by a fine Hull MX with sender's private blue oval cachet in opposite corner, but also having a mainly fine rare "Missent To/Buxton" mark in black (only 4 examples recorded in this colour; the other 7 recorded examples are in blue) inverted on the front. image DERBY - 1678 BISHOP MARK COVER, RARE "ST MARYS-BRIDGE" UDC, 'EXPERIMENTAL' 6-BAR DUPLEX, ETC.; Fine 24 July 1678 EL (internal dated heading folds neatly to display below the address-panel) from "Darby" [sic] to London charged "3"(d) with a fine "IY/26" arrival Bishop Mark on the flap (refers to expected war with France that might reduce lead prices), 1840 EL ex Birmingham to Derby ref. goods to be sent by "Swain's Boat", 1858 env. with 1d Red 'Stars' tied by Derby S/ways Duplex and partly overstruck rare blue "ST MARYS-BRIDGE" UDC (the latest of only 3 known examples) on the side-flap, and a fine 10 Feb. 1874 EL (printed 'Derby & Cfield Reporter' circular with newspaper cutting of advert still attached inside) with ½d Rose-Red (pl.5) tied by fair to v. fine rare 6-Bar "DERBY/242" Duplex - this short-lived type (Wilson Fig.81) is only known from Dec. 1873 to Feb. 1874 and shows the cds part rotating and away from the "242" (the next 6-Bar Duplex was not used in Derby until 1881).
