1986 150th Anniversary of Charles Darwin's Visit original artwork by Brian Clinton including sheet with many different design concepts, line art of Charles Darwin and another of the HMS Beagle stamps,as well as a line drawing showing the design for an unissued Australian stamp. Also includes the artwork used to create the cancel used on the First Day Covers, included is a framed original artwork of the image used for the FDC of the 375th Anniversary of the Discovery of Cocos (Keeling) Island with a First Day Cover signed by the artist. POSTAL HISTORY: 1950 (Feb 12) cover from Adelaide to "The Postmaster/Cocos Island/Indian Ocean", oval 'COCOS IS/PER ("Islander")' h/s in violet & provisional usage of the earlier 'C&W LTD/5JUN50/COCOS' arrival cds both on the reverse. [The second cds was introduced by 28JAN50. Later & very occasional usage of the earlier cds has been noted]
POSTCARDS: 1915 (circa) 'The Emden after HMAS Sydney had Finished with Her' oddly with 'POST [arms] CARD/TASMANIA' heading but no publisher, minor blemishes, unused; also two different German labels imperf (large-part o.g.) & perforated (no gum) of the 'Emden' in better times.
