J82,3¢ Scarlet, Vertical Pair on Commercial Cover, F-VF on pre-printed Social Security Administration cover, original had zero franking but was canceled. Postage due added, (note 6¢ in pencil by pmk). At left is hand inscribed "REFUSED/RH", also two auxiliary marking added, "REFUSED BY BOX HOLDER" by franking and a Pointing Finger in a box w/"RETURN/TO WRITER/UNCLAIMED" at LL. Original pmk "PASADENA/JUN17/1957/TEX" and a second pmk "HOUSTON, TEX/JUN21/1957" but w/datecode upside down. Very unusual postal history, government refused correspondence. Envelope in okay condition, flap roughly opened leaving a couple tears and a rip (Image)
