image 1849. 1F Carmine. Horizontal strip of three. Huge margins including portion of adjoining stamp at bottom right. Tied by large open grid cancel. 'Paris 14 May '51' double-circle datestamp on 1851 folded cover to New York. Red 'PD' handstamp. Sent through Great Britain via closed mail so no transit markings. Carried on Cunarder Canada From Liberpool on May 17. Arriving Boston May 28 with 'Br. Packet Boston 28 May 5' due datestamp which ties the strip. Extremely fine strip of three of the one-franc 1849 issue on a double-rate cover from Paris to New York via British packet. (Image)
